At Al-Kafeel Hospital.. Successful surgical intervention for a patient suffering from scoliosis

A specialized medical team in neurosurgery and spinal surgery at Al-Kafeel Syuper Specialit Hospital performed a spinal correction surgery on a 50-year-old female patient.

Dr. Hossam Al-Anbari, a specialist in neurosurgery and spinal surgery at the hospital, said that the medical team performed a delicate surgery that lasted 3.5 hours. The procedure involved correcting the spine using 14 medical screws and adjusting the vertebrae from the 12th thoracic vertebra to the first sacral vertebra, along with freeing the nerve roots to ensure the patient regains her mobility and alleviates the pain-causing pressure.

He added that the detailed examinations we conducted revealed a severe narrowing of the spinal canal in the lumbar region, and a curvature of the spine due to advanced osteoarthritis, which led to vertebral deviation and deterioration of the condition with aging.
