The Division of Childhood and Youth of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine participates in first International Karbala Children's Book Fair held in the area between to the holy shrines by the Department of Childhood care at the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) for the period between the 17th and 23rd Rabi' Al-Awwal 1437 AH, with the participation of local and international publishing houses.
Mr. Ali Al-Badri, editor in chief of Rayahin magazine stated about this participation: "The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is a key partner in the area of the education and culture of the Muslim child in various Arab and Islamic countries, and is the leader in supporting cultural projects pertaining this important category, and at the division of childhood and youth we have professional cadres who were able to present hundred of titles of children's books that are helping in the education and building the child's personality in a civilized way inspired by the path of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), to enable the children to bear their religious and national responsibilities."
Adding: "Our participation was with a diverse bouquet of children's books that exceeded forty titles, and divided into various literature styles from the stryboards, poem collections, scientific and cultural books and the stories of the prophets and Ahl Al-Bayt (Allah's prayers be upon them), in addition to the monthly magazines issued by our division, namely Rayahin magazine (for the children aged 5-11 years) and which is distributed in most of the Iraq provinces, and Haydara magazine (for the children aged 12-17 years). Our publications are varied between Arabic, English, Turkish, Persian and Kurdish, as the visitors are from various nationalities and our cultural message is derived from the revolution of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) addressed to all humanity."
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition is held on the occasion of the Prophet Mohammad's birth anniversary, in a gesture that is the first of its kind in Iraq, giving the importance to the culture of the child, with the participation of well-known publishing houses specialized in children's books and dealing with the human development of the child as well as books about the biographies of the Imams of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in various languages. The fair has other activities such as drawing and competitions for children as well as the establishment of a special exhibition of child's pictures, in addition to daily workshops with the publishing houses for the exchange of expertise and interest in the culture of the child.
