The staff of the Second Southern Green Belt Department affiliated with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine have begun planting approximately 2,000 fig saplings in their oases.
The head of the agriculture division in the department, Mr. Tanweer Sadiq, said: "The division's staff have started planting about 2000 seedlings of various fig plant varieties in the department's oases."
He added that "the area planted exceeded 22 dunams, with the adoption of modern and advanced irrigation techniques, and the use of organic fertilizers to ensure high productivity."
He explained that "these efforts aim to combat desertification, enhance self-sufficiency, and supply local markets with agricultural products."
