The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has established within its services' projects an integrated system for water desalination (R.O plant) in the area of Jorf Abu 'Amer, which is located on the road Karbala - Al-Hilla in the Hindiyah district of the province of Karbala, as a result of the water scarcity in this area, which prompted the people of the area to ask the help of Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi the High Responsible of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, who guided for the study of the people of this region's need of drinking water and setting up a desalination plant to fill this need.
The responsible of the water division of the engineering projects department at the holy shrine, the body overseeing the implementation of the project; Engineer Ahmed Humaid has explained to Al-Kafeel Network:
"After the directives of the high responsible of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi, to set up a desalination plant in Jurf Abu 'Amer, we have made an exploratory visit to the region to create the right conditions to set up an integrated system for water desalination, and actually all the related matters have been prepared and we started working on this projet until its completion with the help of Allah."
Noting: "The project consists of a water desalination system (RO station) with a capacity of 4000 liters per hour, manufactured and assembled using parts of international origins (Italian pumps, american osmotic membranes, indian filters with a Swiss electric control board and other parts from various origins) in addition to setting up water tanks of 5000 liters, one of them has been allocated to collect raw water before filtering and another tank for RO drinking water, and both were put inside a small room of 7m x 6m built up on a ground of a thickness of 20 cm from reinforced concrete, walls of cement block painted inside and outside, and a roof of corrugated kirby and iron in addition to a secondary roof with indoor and outdoor lighting."
Adding: "The project site was equipped with two fountains and another fountain was put close to the main street of the district, 250 m from the project site, using a UPVC tube with a diameter of 2 inches buried 1 meter under the ground and setting up a tank of a capacity of 3000 liters. A water pump was installed in the project site to enhance the water pump by drilling a well in depth of 12 meters 100 meters away from the project's site, by cleaning it and lining it with a PVC tube of 6 inches by installing a pump to deliver water to the station site using special water cannons buried under the ground."
