The twelfth of the month of Ramadan: Imam Ali; the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) the brother of the Messenger of Allah..

Since the arrival of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) to the Medina, he proceeded to establish an Islamic state. So he founded the Masjid [mosque] to be a starting point for the leadership and a centre to set up the state beside the worship and thought tasks of the Masjid, then he started strengthening and consolidating the social structure. It was reported that when he (prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) set up in Medina, and restored the order, he has put a plan that gathers all parties of the city and all the emigrants of Muslims, in order to consolidate the bonds of love and cooperation between them.

In the twelfth of the holy month of Ramadan of the first year of the blessed prophetic migration, the Messenger of Allah (prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) has paired as brothers the Muhajireen and Ansar, such as between Mu'adh ibn Jabal and Abi Dhar Al-Ghaffari, between Hudhayfa Ibn Al-Yaman and 'Ammar Ibn Yassir, between Mus'ab Ibn 'Umayr and Abi Ayyoub, and between Salman and Abi Ad-Darda'.

When the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his household) made bonds of brotherhood among his Companions. So ‘Ali came crying saying: “O Messenger of Allah! You have made a bond of brotherhood among your Companions, but you have not made a bond of brotherhood with me and anyone.” So the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his household) said to him: “I am your brother, in this life and the next, and you are from me of the status which Haroun (peace be upon him) had from Musa (peace be upon him) except that there is no Prophet after me, and your my brother and my heir.”

The brotherhood project established by the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) is one of the most powerful Islamic policies urged by the Holy Quran: {The believers are but brothers} (49:10)
