The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine provides the visitors and the citizens with hundreds of thousands of litres of pure water (RO) and hundreds of ice bulks.

"Al-Saqi" is one of the titles of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him). Inspired by this, the division of providing water of the department of service affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, as part of its duty, has provided the residents and people of the old city centre and surrounding the holy shrine with free pure water (RO) through its station, in addition to the ice, because of the increased need due to the very high temperatures that coincide with power outages and the lack of water fit for consumption.

The head of this division; Haj Ahmed Al-Hanoon, has explained: "The division has many duties that are distributed to each of the division's units, and with the entry of summer, which is characterized by high temperatures the need for water increases. So in turn, we were prepared for this season, by installing an integrated station to provide water, not only to the visitors and citizens by to all water distribution centres, including the holy shrine and its surrounding area. The provided water is sterilized in high quality filtering stations of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. This system operates by cooling the water to acceptable degrees then collected in special tanks, in addition to ice that is provided by the holy shrine's factory."

He continued: "General fountains were installed to supply the citizens with the need quantity of water, and we also provide ice to those who need it. And this work continues around the clock, reaching about 480 thousand litres of water daily, which can reach in rush cases to more than 720 thousand litres, as well as hundreds of ice bulks."

He concluded: "There are some fixed areas and centres that we provide with water or ice using the division's vehicles, to supply the fixed Hussayni procession that provide services to the visitors during Friday's eves and during the special occasions. In addition to some schools during the students' exams..."
