The holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) both hold digging a security trench surrounding the holy city of Karbala

The holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) both hold digging a security trench surrounding western and southwestern sides of the holy city of Karbala, 100 km from its centre. This security measure came in coordination with the provincial police and local government leadership. The trench extends from the cement plant located on the road between Karbala and Nukhayib district toward the desert with the borders of the province of Najaf.

This project comes to work in order to contribute to the protection of this holy province of any danger or security breach that may happen -God forbid- and to prevent the infiltration of terrorists and car bombs.

The security representative of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in command of operations; Mr. Dia' Al-Hasnawi has explained the following to Al-Kafeel Network: "After holding a meeting of the Supreme Security Committee in the holy city of Karbala with the large attendance of the leadership of the middle Euphrates' operations, the local government, leadership of the police, other security services and representatives of the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), and after a series of consultations, we had to follow-up drilling the security trench around the holy city of Karbala, which is dug in the desert between the holy city of Karbala and Anbar, and is extended in the south toward the desert of Najaf, where we have started the work about two weeks ago and we were able to accomplish so far nearly 5 km from the side, which was commissioned to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, while the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) is responsible for the left side extended from the cement plant to certain areas. The work is going at a fast pace and high coordination by the use of specific equipment for this purpose."

Noting: "The length of the trench is of 70 km, 3m width and 3m depth. Surveillance towers and modern long-range cameras will be set up to be elusive for anyone to overcome it. This project will contribute significantly to the protection of the holy city of Karbala and Najaf. We ask the Almighty God to help us to accomplish this blessed work."

It is worth mentioning that the leadership of the operations of Middle Euphrates has announced on the 28th June 2016, that the units of the fourth division of the federal police have repelled three car bombs, which were taken by a group of terrorists in the desert of the holy city of Karbala, indicating that these units have seized and destroyed them.
