Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital confirms that the medical evacuation program has eased the burden of travel of patients and have achieved great results.

The Director General of Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Dr. Haydar Al-Bahadli has confirmed that the medical evacuation program which protocol was signed between the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the Hospital has achieved good results in terms of performing complex surgical procedures that cannot be done in the Iraqi hospitals, and has contributed to alleviating the burden on patients who used to travel outside of Iraq for this purpose, in addition to the breadth of its work space as it make them spare their money that they used to spend previously on the patients and their companions.

He added: "We have put an action plan for the implementation of these convention in the hospital, being recruiting world-class physicians according to our need of specialities and according to the cases we diagnosed, and we will do our utmost for the success of this joint cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the Al-Kafeel Hospital, so we can be an alternative to most of the global hospitals, which were frequented by the beneficiaries of this program abroad."

The Medical evacuation Division official, Mr. Abbas Fadel Hamadi has explained: "The number of the patients sent by the Ministry of Health are 418 patients who are either heart cases, complex fractures or various surgeries in addition to eye surgeries."

Noting: "119 heart patients were diagnosed, and a foreign medical team specialist in open-heart surgeries has conducted successful surgeries for ten patients, and the rest of surgeries for other patients will follow. 40 corneal transplantation surgeries were made and it is the first time in Iraq that such eye surgery is done, in addition to 9 retina surgeries as well as the examination of 223 patients with different eyes diseases."

Mr. Hammadi has added: "Our surgery teams have conducted 21 different surgeries, including a surgery to spare a patient from leg amputation. We have also examined 52 cases of bones fractures and 14 surgeries were performed including complex fractures and Alizarov surgeries, which are of one the most difficult operations that were not conducted previously in Iraq."

It is to note that the medical evacuation program, which was adopted by the Iraqi Health Ministry, and that is serving to send the patients who suffer from complex diseases or need difficult surgeries that are normally done outside Iraq, to the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital, for its distinct and high level medical and therapeutic services and the latest medical devices used by the most skilled doctors who perform and master numerous operations in various specialities, and that were all successful.
