The General Supervisor of the Squad, Mr. Maitham al-Zaidi has stated: "The al-Abbas's (p) fighting squad has participated in the liberation of the right coast of Mosul represented by the popular mobilization fraction that supported us, and under the guidance of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces as well as the command of joint operations. And all praise to God, we had participated with the Iraqi army as we were under its command and we had the honor to represent the popular mobilization in this blessed operation."
Indicating: "The army has three axes, and the squad's operations focused on the western axis, along with the 36th brigade of the ninth division that leads the army axes as well as the 71st brigade, and after thirty days of fighting with the enemy, the results were as follow:
- More than 420 ISIL elements were killed during these battles, including the intelligence officer of ISIL Adel Dhanon Ismael, communications officer Ahmed Abu Malek, administration officer Abu Anas, assistant administrative officer Mohamed Ali Abu Mustafa, prison officer Abdallah Ahmed Jassem and the information officer Salam Abu Sagr in addition to detaining 100 ISIL elements who were handed over to security forces and who confessed their crimes, including two elements who admitted being involved in the crime of Badush prison.
- The liberation of more than 273 km in cooperation with the 36th brigade. The liberation has included the last part of Nweyguit hills, the village of Geysom hill and the al-Sahaji village that is a strategic village, as well as the series of 'Atshana hills especially that the leadership of the joint operations has showed that the liberation of these hills is a key point in facilitating the liberation process of the right coast, considering that these hills are overlooking the right coast and has a strategic center. Then the Thleyja village were liberated enabling to cut the last road of Badush, then we walked up to Badush hills chain liberating the Badush cement plant, Badush barrage, Badush area, Hayyah, Sbeyh and other villages, in addition to cutting the last open main road between Tal Afar Mahlabiyah and the right coast.
- We have entered three kinds of battles at once, the first one was in the open areas, the second in the mountain areas and everyone knows that fighting the mountainous areas is fierce and very difficult, all the dead in the 'Atshana hills chain were foreigners and maybe they were from their elite forces. The third type of battles were the fight inside the residential and buildings areas, as we have fought them even inside houses and alleys in the area of Badush. And thank God in all these battles our heroes managed to humiliate the enemy making it bear heavy losses, and they achieved victory in a good record time and with the lowest losses possible.”
Adding: "We thank all those who supported us, starting by the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine without which there will not be the al-Abbas's (p) Squad, we received great support from it especially the moral support by the presence in the field of the representative of the supreme religious authority and the Senior Official of the holy shrine his eminence Sayed Ahmed al-Safi and all the shrines' officials, and we do not forget the great role of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the shepherd of the al-Abbas's (p) squad, who was supporting us and continuously in contact with us for the execution of our duties in the best way, and also the Ministry of Defense as the Defense Minister has visited us many time in the operations district, and we do not forget the role of the popular mobilization board, which gave us the required support in this operation."
Explaining: "Today, we announce the end of our combat duties within this axis, but the elite forces will remain in the region for the control until the liberation of the entire right coast. And we are ready for any guidance from the operations command, also some of our forces went to the reorganization and preparation of Tal Afar battle as we were informed that we will participate in one of these operations axes."
