For the first time in New York, al-Kafeel Center for international relations in America holds the first competition in memorization of Surat Yaseen

Al-Kafeel Center for international relations in America, affiliated to the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has held the first Quran competition in three states: New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, with the participation of 40 contestants in memorization of Surat Yaseen. The competition was for two categories; adults and young people from the following Islamic communities: Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Bahrain, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan and from all Islamic centers in the three states. The competition and the distribution of the awards were held at the Center of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in New York.

The General Supervisor of the competition; Sheikh Mohamad Jawad al-Salami, Director of the al-Kafeel Center for international relations and the representative of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in North and South America, has explained at the end of this competition the following: "Today you are all winners, as everyone who came to this place is a winner, and all those who participated and tried to memorize Surat Yaseen is a winner even if he did not win the competition, as he has got the reward that is the real award. So all thanks to the participants, the attendees and the families from the community who are lovers of the Quran, and all thanks to the organizers and the administration of the Center of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). And we promise you that we will seek to develop this competition to make it annual, especially when we have witnessed the participation of a sixty years old man and six years old child at the same time, which encourages us. So congratulations for this love of the Holy Quran."

"Thanks to God, with the help of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, this was the first Quranic event to be held for the first time in New York. We hope that these Quranic events will spread the love of the Holy Quran in every family and that these Quranic programs will grow annually," said Sayed Hussein Al Bahrani, organizer of the contest.

"The competition has been a great success, and this means that the Muslim community was suffering from a vacuum in the Quranic activity. Thankfully, we have filled the void slowly, and the best scene in the competition was that we see parents, sons and daughters all competing in the competition. And we have hoped that these Quranic activities will bring us to the divine nearness in the hope that we will cultivate the love of the Quran in the hearts of the people," said the reader and judge Sayed Zuhair al-Hussayni al-Afghani.

At the end of the competition, the director of al-Kafeel Center has distributed prizes and shields of the shrine to the three winners of each category, to the organizing committee and to the Imam of the hosting center, Sheikh Mohamad al-Salami who has praised the role of the holy shrines in Iraq to support and activate the Quranic movement in Iraq and abroad, as the first and second prize for each category was a Ziyarat of the holy shrine in Iraq, hosted by the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
