The expectations of the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr

It is expected that the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal will be seen on the evening of Sunday 29th of the month of Ramadan, 1438 AH corresponding 25th of June, 2017 with the possibility of seeing with the naked eye if the sky is clear in the holy city of Najaf and at sunset at 7:12.

This statement came on the basis of the timetable of the crescent moons published on the website of the Office of the Supreme Religious Authority The Eminence Sayed Ali al-Sistani in Najaf, stating:

It is expected that the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal will be seen on the evening of Sunday 29th of the month of Ramadan, 1438 AH corresponding 25th of June, 2017 with the possibility of seeing with the naked eye if the sky is clear in the holy city of Najaf and at sunset at 7:12. And the moon will be of 37 hours and 37 minutes and with an elevation from the horizon 14 degrees and 8 minutes.

The duration of its stay after the sunset is of one hour and 13 minutes, with a proportion of the moon's light of 3.59%, and in this case, the moon sighting is expected to be of high visibility.

According to these expectations, it is expected that the Eid day will be on Monday 26th of June 2017, but we will be waiting for the confirmation through the legal vision upon which the seeing of the new crescent moon will be declared officially. May God accept all our deeds.
