In conjunction with the anniversary of Baqee' tragedy, the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine launches the third edition of the Festival of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him).

In conjunction with the sad anniversary of the tragedy of demolition of Baqee' tombs, the third edition of the Cultural Festival of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) was launched on Monday afternoon the eighth of Shawwal 1438 AH corresponding to the third of July 2017 in the hall of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) for conferences and seminars at the holy shrine, held and sponsored by the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine under the slogan "Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) the depositary of wisdom and translator of revelation."

The opening ceremony of the festival, which was attended by large number of religious and academic figures as well as representatives of the holy shrines and sanctuaries, started by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Haydar Gelokhan and reading Surat al-Fatiha in memory of those who were killed while defending the soil of the dear homeland; the martyrs of Iraq.

Followed by the word of the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by its Secretary-General Eng. Mohamad al-Ashigar, then the poet Adil al-Swayri has delivered a poem of vertical poetry about Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and the tragedy of Baqee' Imams (peace be upon them).

After that, the names of the three winners of the research competition of the festival were announced, and who in turn, have presented their abstracts as follows:

The first winner: Dr. Abbas Isma'il al-Gharawi, his research was entitled: "The approach of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) is the path to the peaceful coexistence."

The second winner: Mr. Ali Abd al-Wahhab al-'ardawi, his research was entitled: "A contemporary reading in selected educational texts of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him)."

The third winner: Mr. Rasool Mohamad Hassan al-Tamimi, his research was entitled: "Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and the emergence of the Great University."

This research competition was concluded by a series of interventions of the attendees and to which have answered the lecturers clarifying all points.

There was also a poetry participation of the poet Zayn al-'Abideen al-Sa'eedi who presented a popular poem about the tragedy of the demolition of Baqee' cemetery.

Then the Vice-President of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and a member of the preparatory committee of the festival; Sayed 'Aqeel Abd al-Hussayn al-Yasiri has presented the recommendations of the Preparatory Committee for the festival.

The ceremony was concluded by the distribution of the appreciation certificated to the winners of the research competition and the participants in the festival and the media that covered the festival.
