Through its follow-up of the reality that Iraq is living in the current circumstances, which is at the forefront of the security threats in it, and in order to pass this stage and thwart the plans that want to undermine the unity and the entity of the Iraqi people and to stand against them and strengthen the social fabric and its interdependence, as the common points in this homeland are larger than its difference points, and for the purpose of living and coexistence in peace in the region, the supreme religious authority has highlighted today in the second sermon of Friday prayer, which was led by Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi al-Karbala'i, the foundations of the peaceful coexistence and considered it a successful mechanism to address the risks of diversity in religious and sectarian affiliation, at the various cultural, social and ideological levels. And these foundations are:
The first: The common points between the various Islamic sects, whether in the doctrine (Tawhid, prophethood ...) or the practical pillars of the true religion, from the prayer, fasting pilgrimage, etc. and despite the differences, create a certain level of cultural harmony and dialogue based on respecting the privacy of each other in a way that preserves the common national relationship between those belonging to this sectarian diversity and protect the supreme interests of all Muslims, especially if they live within the same homeland.
The second: The heart's interconnectedness and the sentiments of sympathy, compassion and devotion imposed by the hadith "the example of the Muslims in their compassion and mercy..." This hadith is imposing a space and a level of hearty and productive sympathy for the positive social movement towards the other, preserving the strength of the social relationship and effective social convergence.
The third: The belief that the religious and sectarian pluralism is inevitable matter that is required by God's will {To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.} (5:48). The peaceful coexistence is a necessity dictated by reality and facts of history and it is a must to know how to positively deal with pluralism in a constructive way that safeguard the multi-denominational society from conflict and violence, as what is required is to deal rationally, realistically and fairly with pluralism.
The fourth: The owner of every thought has the right to defend it and try to convince others by establishing evidence following a scientific method to prove his right from his point of view, but without prejudice to the dignity of those who disagree with the thought or hurt their feelings and harming their sanctities, which may lead to disruption of peaceful coexistence between the people of the same homeland. It is not required from the people of truth to stop stating what is right and those representing it and what is wrong and those representing it, but it is necessary to follow the correct method to avoid what incites hatred among people.
The fifth: One of the serious matters that caused a lot of killing is the atonement of the other just because of the difference in some doctrinal issues and the subsequent interpretation of the texts contrary to their meaning, especially the texts that preserved and protected the Islamic society from shedding the blood of the innocent and harming their honor and money.
The sixth: The awareness of what is imposed by the supreme interests of Muslims and the general national interests is much more important than the narrow interests (which some believe are the interests of the sect), requires the observance of cultural, economic and social rights for all within the circle of equal citizenship rights and the coexistence on the basis of common principles and interests, and to prevent the detriment of the harmful division to all.
The seventh: The destabilization of peaceful coexistence is caused by the controversy and criticism of the other in the public discourse away from the scientific method used by the specialists of Islamic communication and good statement. As he who believed, he believed for himself, and he who did not believe, the Almighty will account him: {upon you is only the [duty of] notification, and upon Us is the account.} (13:40)
