Al-Kafeel Museum for valuables and manuscripts enhances the experiences of its staff with a tenth course for the maintenance of carpets and precious textiles.

The course
Al-Kafeel Museum for valuables and manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has established a special course for its employee specialists in carpet maintenance. The course is part of a series of development courses aimed at improving the level of its specialized staff, making them aware of all museum maintenance matters, providing them with sufficient experience. The course will continue for a month and other courses will follow.

According the statement of the head of the Museum Department; Mr. Sadeq Lazem to the al-Kafeel Network: "We have continuous courses according to the program developed by the department and in coordination with the administration of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. This course is the tenth for the restoration and maintenance of carpets, led by the retired expert Mas'oud Haidari, who is an expert in the restoration of carpets working in the national museum of carpets in Tehran, with whom we agreed about three years ago to train the staff of the al-Kafeel museum for carpets' maintenance."

And he added: "The staff is now in advanced stages in the maintenance of carpets, and the expert has given the green light to the employees to start the maintenance and manufacturing. And as it is known the world of carpet and its maintenance is a wide world, the employees have also worked on the maintenance of Burdah and precious pieces of textiles, and we have a project to teach them how to make handmade carpets and we are currently working on a model with the logo of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in a professional way."

It is noteworthy that the experiences learned by the staff of the Museum Department that they have gained through their practical work, made the department hold a special sessions for one the employees of the Iraqi Museum (textile restorer), which lasted for fifteen days, and focused on how to maintain and store the carpets as it is part of the cooperation program with the Iraqi Museum and the Department of Museums for the exchange of scientific expertise in this area, after that the staff of the al-Kafeel Museum have conducted works of maintenance and storage of the carpets of the Heritage Department of the Iraqi Museum, as well as giving an integrated database of these carpets according to the concluded agreement.
