With the participation of seven countries: The launch of the second edition of the International Al-Kafeel Conference of Museums.

The second edition of the International Al-Kafeel Conference of Museums was launched Thursday morning the 15th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1438 AH corresponding to the September 7, 2017 under the slogan "Museums, civilization and economy" held y the al-Kafeel Museum for valuables and manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine with the participation of researchers and specialists in the field of museums from seven countries, including the representative of the head of the UNAMI mission in Iraq, the representative of the German and Italian Museum, the director of the Erbil Museum, the delegation of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, heads of colleges and archaeology and heritage departments, and more than 200 researchers and specialists in the affairs of museums, monuments and heritage.

The opening ceremony of the conference, which was hosted by the hall of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) for conferences and seminars., was attended by a large attendance and began by the recitation of verses of the Holy Quran and reading Surat al-Fatiha in memory of the souls of Iraq martyrs, followed by the national Iraqi anthem and the anthem of the holy shrine "Melody of Pride", followed by the word of the Secretary-General of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine delivered by its Senior Official; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi.

Followed by the word of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Heritage delivered by Mr. Qassem al-Sudani. A documentary film was then displayed showing the most important stages of the preparations of the conference and a side of the al-Kafeel Museum activities.

The Director of the Near East Department at the German Institute of Archaeology Professor Margaret Van As, delivered the word of the participating foreign delegations, stressing that the collections of the al-Kafeel Museum that are beautifully presented, reflect a bright history of Iraq's history through its important historical stages. And that the convening of this conference opens horizons for discussion and deliberation for Iraqis and all specialists in the Museum field to develop and promote it.

Followed by the word of the organizing committee of the Conference, the head of the al-Kafeel Museum for valuables and manuscripts; Mr. Sadeq Lazem.

Then the participants and guests had a tour in al-Kafeel Museum, and were briefed about the most prominent acquisitions of the Museum.

After that, the research sessions started, to let the researchers present their research texts in the afternoon.
