The characteristics of the holy dome's flag of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which will be raised during the holy month of Muharram.

Within the framework of the preparations of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to receive the month of mourning; the holy month of Muharram, the sewing Division of the department of gifts and vows, has finished the design and sewing works of the black flag that will be raised the eve of the first of the holy month of Muharram 1439 AH. In special condolences rituals that are held annually.

The head of the Division; Mr. Abd al-Zahra Dawood Salman has told us about the important characteristics of this flag, saying: "The design and tailoring of the flag goes through several stages, starting from the choice of fabric quality which is one of the good qualities that bear the weather conditions and the consistency of the colors, to take the measurements then tailoring. And the most important specifications of the flag are:

1- The flag shall measure 3.5m width and 2.5m length.

2- The flag has double faces connected to each other.

3- On each side it is written using Thuluth calligraphy by the calligrapher Mr. Feras al-Asdi: "Ya Saqi 'Atacha Karbala [O waterer of thirsty ones in Karbala], this expression is specific to the months of Muharram and Safar.

4- The written area is of 1.2m from the total area of the flag and is done in red.

6- The weight of the flag is of approximately 2.5 kg.

It is to note that the holy dome's flag, whether the flags raised in the months of Muharram and Safar or those raised in the other months, is replaced every ten days (three flags every month), because it is exposed to various weather conditions.
