This was the statement of Sayed al-Safi to the Hussayni processions that will participate in the Ziyarat of Arba'een.

The tenth Annual Conference for the processions and Hussayni bodies that will participate in the rituals of the Ziyarat Arba'een was held on Friday afternoon the 22nd of Muharram 1439 AH, corresponding to the October 13, 2017. The Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi had stated many points including:

  • 1- Poetry is one of the ways to revive the matter of the Imams (peace be upon them), recalling the calamity of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him). And Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him) has asked to hear the poetry in the Iraqi way because of its impact on the audience.
  • 2- Iraq has become a world of sadness with the use of poetry, either in the popular or classic way, making the Iraqi or other feels grief for the issue of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him). Especially that the poetry about at-Taf has become very distinct.
  • 3- We cherish you for your interest in the cause of the rituals and their revival through your processions which have a very symbolic impact.
  • 4- The presence of the Hussayni processions is a state of rejection of the unjust and the oppressor, this is why the tyrants fought against it even it does not affect them, because they believe that any cry for the processions or any cheers for the name of Imam al-Hussayn represents a state of hostility to them.
  • 5- We have witnessed the practices that were committed against the Hussayni rituals in Iraq, which was a war, pursuit and exclusion of everything related to Imam al-Hussayn in one way or another, up to the point that even his Ziyarat by walk was blocked, and in the recent time, there were sentences of imprisonment for those who practice it as it was considered a false religious practice.
  • 6- We are now in front of a state of great awareness of the meanings of the rituals from the status of rejection of injustice and submission to it.
  • 7- Ziyarat Arba'een is a distinguished Ziyarat that makes the believer walk long distances up to the shrine of the Master of the martyrs (peace be upon him), and the message of the believers in this Ziyarat must be taken seriously.
  • 8- Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) in the Arba'een has an atmosphere of grief and sorrow more than in Ashura, as it includes remembering the state of sadness experienced by Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her) with the captives and Imam as-Sajjad (peace be upon him) when they came back to Karbala.
  • 9- We lived the chapters of the scene of Arba'een through what was narrated to us by the historians and poets who used to read their elegies and obituaries on the Minbars. Thus the whole atmosphere of Arba'een is about grief.
  • 10- Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and all other Imams (peace be upon them) urged us to deal with this scene with grief and sadness. And Imam ar-Redha (peace be upon him) has said: "Truly the day of al-Hussayn has ulcerated our eyelids (out of lot of crying), shed (continuously) our tears, humiliated our dear ones in the land of Karb (anguish) and Bala’ (affliction)."
  • 11- The issue of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) must be a lesson and grief, and this is what the processions' owners must recall in their poems and Hussayni cheers.
  • 12- We hope that the processions' owners make out of the Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his cause their role model in all their works to gain the satisfaction of the Almighty and of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).
  • 13- The Hussayni processions' owners must make their processions more organized and disciplined, as the project of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) is larger than all of this.
  • 14- The processions' owners have to improve their dealings with the parties organizing the processions, in addition to the preservation of public property.
  • 15- Iraq is a country without competition in the field of the Hussayni poetry especially the popular one. Thus, we need more poems with sense of grief, sorrow and tears.
  • 16- The efforts of the brothers in the local government and the holy shrines are part of their duty, so we must cooperate with them.
  • 17- We must respect the laws and instructions issued by the Department of Rites, Processions and Hussayni bodies, which aim at organizing the work of these processions.
