The staff of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine continues the work to cover the dome of the great Masjid of al-Sahla.

The head of the engineering projects Department at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Eng. Dea' Majeed al-Sa'egh: "The dome of Maqam of the Master of the Order and Time (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance) in the great Masjid of al-Sahla will have a distinctive architectural character through modern Islamic architecture, in compliance with the sanctity of the name that it has and homogenous with the architecture of the Masjid, which is one of the oldest mosques in Iraq. The staff of our technical and engineering department, which was honored to carry out this project, made every effort to achieve it within the specified time frame and within its plans and designs."

Al-Sa'egh added: "We started the first stage of this project, which was preceded by the executing the designs on the dome, which is the stage of covering it with the golden tiles, which was used in the amount of (3 g of gold) for each tile, manufactured in the workshops of the gilding and Mina Division in the Department of Engineering Projects, after taking the measurements of each tile and made using hammering on the suede, which is a high-efficiency method that proved success in more than one project carried out by our staff inside and outside the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. And upon the completion of this stage, the next stage will start y covering it with the streaky Kashi Karbalai."

Noting that "we used in the installation of gold tiles, a method that proved its success better than the old classical methods, and give a longer life to these tiles, as well as strong cohesion between them or with the wall of the holy dome."

He added: "We are proud of this achievement because it is made and carried out by pure Iraqi hands and from the staff of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in continuation of the series of projects that it carried out, starting by the minarets of the sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to the minarets of the shrine of Sayed Mohammad Dujayl (peace be upon him), passing by the Maqam of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance) in the Holy city of Karbala. "

In a related vein, the special secretary of the masjid, Dr. Mudhar al-Madani, said: "We have made sure to design this dome on the respect of the Islamic architectural design of the mosque, and we wanted to distinguish it from the other domes of the holy shrines because it symbolizes the alive Imam. Thus the design was based on a different pattern that combines the rolling gilding and the streaky Kashi al-Karbala'i."

It is to note that the implementation of this project falls within the framework of technical cooperation between the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and the other holy shrines. This follows the success achieved by the technical staff of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in similar works and after having acquired sufficient experience in this field, similar or better than the executed works by foreign labor.
