The al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announces the establishment of the fourth Cultural Festival of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him).

The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs announced the establishment of the fourth edition of the cultural festival of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him) under the slogan: "Imam al-Baqer: the prestige of the guardian (peace be upon him) and the heir of the Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household)" on Monday, 1st of Rajab 1439 AH corresponding to March 19, 2018.

Assistant to the Head of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine Sayed. 'Aqeel Abd al-Hussayn al-Yasiri explained to the alKafeel Network, saying:

"The festival includes a number of Hawza and academic researches, participating from inside and outside the country, and invitations were sent to some of the scholars of the Hawza in Najaf and academic professors as well as the institutions and departments of the state in the provinces of Iraq, including (Karbala, Babylon and Najaf). The festival is held in two morning and evening sessions.

The festival will be held on the 1st of Rajab on the birth anniversary of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him) to highlight the life of Imam Al-Baqer (peace be upon him), commemorate his virtuous memory, highlight the role played by our Master Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him) by facing the extremist thought movements that emerged in his time and shed the light on what he did in the face of these movements and address them in time."

Pointed out that "the goal of this festival is to deliver a message to all lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) to enable them to know the characteristics of that great personality in the fight against these deviant movements and to address them at that time.

Because there is no single occasion to revive his matter, the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine sought to revive his matter either in the memory of the destruction of his holy tomb on the 8th of Shawwal or on his auspicious birth anniversary by holding the festival of Imam Al-Baqer (peace be upon him). And we hope that in the coming years there will be invitations to more Arab and foreign country to attend and participate in this festival."
