The Department of Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs opens its first annual exhibition "Our heritage is our identity".

The Department of Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs at the al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine opened on Friday 12th Rajab 1439 AH corresponding to March 30, 2018 its first annual exhibition "Our heritage is our identity" in the hall of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) in the holy shrine in the presence of the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine his eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi and its Secretary General; Engineer Mohamad al-Ashigar and a large group of religious scholars, academics and a number of specialist in heritage field.

The opening ceremony started by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran followed by reading Surat al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq. Then the national anthem was played followed by the anthem of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine "Tune of Pride". Followed by the word of his eminence the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine Sayed Ahmad al-Safi highlighting that the heritage represents the identity that makes us proud.

Followed by the word of the great Muhaqiq his eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Hussayni al-Ashkuri speaking about the great efforts to show the wealth of heritage of the country, especially in the last ten years in Iraq and in the holy shrine to revive many of the important heritage and manuscripts.

Then Sayed Ayad al-Shahrastani, director of the Library of the two Imams al-Jawadayn (peace be upon both of them) expressing his pride and honor that the holy shrines started developing their services for the service of the society, especially the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine that has an important role in the field of science, knowledge and revival of the heritage represented by its Department of Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs.

Followed by the word of the Library of the House of Wisdom, delivered by Dr. Ismail al-Jabri stating that this initiative of the Department of the Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs is an important one as it is based on previous interest in the preservation of the Arab and Islamic heritage, which is a fundamental pillar in the direction of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in preserving the heritage of loss and destruction."

Then the poet Dr. Adel al-Basisi read his poem to the audience, followed by honoring some of the active figures in the heritage affairs. Then the attendees accompanied the Secretary General of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for the opening of the exhibition held in the area between the two holy shrines with the participation of the heritage centers of basra, Hilla and Karbala as well as the Institute of the Holy Quran of the Department of the Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs.
