With the participation of more than 133 publishing houses: The opening of the Karbala International Book Fair held within the World Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring.

On Sunday morning 28th of Rajab 1439 AH corresponding to the April 15, 2018, the fourteenth edition of the Karbala International Book Fair, held within the World Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring organized by the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), and which will start of the third of the holy month of Sha'ban, was opened in the area between the two holy shrines.

The fair will last for ten days starting from the 28th of Rajab 1439 AH corresponding to the April 15, 2018 until the 8th of Sha'ban 1439 AH corresponding to April 25, 2018. It is held with the participation of 133Iraqi, Arab and foreign Publishing Houses in seven countries: Britain, Lebanon, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq on an exhibition area of more than 3000 square meters.

The director of the Karbala International Book Fair; dr. Mushtaq Ma'an al-Ali explained to al-Kafeel Network: "The shelves of the exhibition contained different publications including the religious and academic ones in addition to the humanitarian and scientific books that fit all academic levels from the preliminary to the university, as well as the special publications for the children's education to contribute to the development of the mental capacities of the child, in addition to other publications in various fields."

He added: "This edition will be comprehensive and integrated in terms of the books and their specialization. The supervisory committee on the fair has taken measures to prevent the exhibition of any book that touches the sovereignty of Iraq, raises sectarian, attacking the religious symbols or discusses unethical aspects. And the participation in the pavilions was either directly or through accredited agencies, whether for the academics, universities, research centers, studies centers, children publishing houses, space production institutions, printing, publication and distribution houses. As well as the participation of all the holy shrines inside and outside Iraq in addition to the Shiite sanctuaries and the Shiite and Sunni Endowment. "

The Karbala International Book Fair represents a cultural activity that provides an opportunity for communication and interaction between creative minds in culture, thought and science, and readers and intellectuals in various fields, as well as enhancing confidence and communication between these institutions and educational, scientific, social and other organizations.

The Karbala International Book Fair is one of the most prominent events of the World Cultural Festival of Martyrdom's Spring, which is held and funded entirely by the General Secretaries of the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) since its establishment in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the grandson of the Great Prophet, Imam Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (Allah's prayers be upon them).
