With the participation of delegations from 33 countries, The 14th edition of the World Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring, held by the two Secretariats General of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) on the birth anniversaries of Imam al-Hussayn, his brother al-Abbas and Imam as-Sajjad (peace be upon all of them), was opened today the 3rd of Sha'ban 1439 AH corresponding to April 20, 2018.
The festival was held under the slogan: "By al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) we make revolution and by the fatwa we are victorious".
The delegations that were present in the opening ceremony were from the following countries: From Asia, Africa and Europe: "Lebanon, Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Russia, France, England, Italy, USA, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Bosna, Algeria, Tunisia, Benin, Mauritania, Tanzania, Madagascar, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Senegal, Ghana, Guinea Bissau and South Africa."
The opening started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Hasanein al-Hilo, then reading Surat Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the word of the two Secretariats General of the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) delivered by the Senior Official of the Imam al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine, his eminence Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi al-Karbala'i, in which he stated:
"If our proud fighters were able to achieve victory through the Hussayni reform, we still have a lot to do in terms of the moral, cultural, educational, social, economic, family reform, which no society can live up to except by giving the utmost importance to the cognitive an cultural reform, which represented the axis and pillar of human existence in this universes."
Followed by the word of the head of the Shiite Endowment; his eminence Sayed Ala' al-Mosawi, in which he stated: "During these blessed days, we are celebrating with joys also the victories achieved by the people of Iraq, who have cleansed their land from the terrorist ISIL gangs by the blood of the martyrs who have followed the path of martyrdom, which is the path of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), as Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) is the Master of martyrs. And this approach led to the victory of Iraq and Iraqis."
Then the poet Hazem Rashag al-Tamimi recited his poem in classical Arabic. Followed by the word of the delegations of the European continent, delivered on their behalf by Professor Udo Steinbach, Director of the Center for Governance in the Middle East, and expert of Middle East Affairs in the first and second German TV channels; Deutsche Welle TV. Followed by the word of the participating Asia delegations, delivered on their behalf by Dr. Nazeer Hussein, a university professor and program director for Pakistani satellite channels. in which he stated: "During my thirty years of professional life, I have visited many places in the world, but this visit is a model in my entire life, as I find myself unable to express myself when speaking about Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them). During the last few days in this sacred place, I have visited the holy shrines many times, and every time I have a different feeling in the holy shrine of al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which reflect his greatness and connection to Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and I am captivated by al-Abbas (peace be upon him), he must have been truly unique as this is the feeling I have each time I enter his holy shrine."
Then it was the turn of the word of the delegations of the African continent, delivered on their behalf by Sheikh Sha'ban Lyone -former parliamentarian- preacher and teacher at the Center of the Great Prophet in Madagascar, in which he stated: "This year, we celebrate the birth of Master of the martyrs (peace be upon him) along with the celebrations from the liberation of the territory of Iraq from the desecration of the criminal gangs and the victory of Iraq in its battle against terrorist darkness. And this great victory achieved by the Iraqis is a victory for all humanity against its enemies."
This was followed by Anasheed of praising Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) by the Hussayni Radood Nizar al-Qatari who sang them in Arabic, English, Urdu and Persian.
The conclusion of the opening ceremony was the presentation of a signed letter from a group of the children of the martyrs in defense of Iraq and its people and sanctities in response to the fatwa of the Supreme Religious Authority in Najaf, sent by all martyrs' families from the north to the south to his eminence Sayed Ali al-Sistani. This was presented by the military media represented by the journalist Ali Jawad, the correspondent of al-Iraqiya channel.
