Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) the gate to Imam Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

It is written on the silver gate of the golden Iwan of the holy sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) verses from the poem of the famous poet Sheikh Mohamad Ali al-Ya'qoubi, including:

Aba al-Fadl, you are the gate to al-Hussayn *** Just as your father Ali was a gate to Ahmad

The poet points out that Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) followed the example of his father, Imam the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), as the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him) was calling Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in all great matters.

Imam Ali (peace be upon him) dedicated his life for the service, protection and defending the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), until he became famous for saying "I am a slave of the slaves of Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), and the Almighty said, describing him when he slept on the bed of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon hi) to redeem him: {And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah. And Allah is kind to [His] servants.} (2:207), as well as many other verses that describe his faith, morals and positions. And the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household): "I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate, and he who wants the city has to come to its gate."

He (peace be upon him) was then a gate to the Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), accompanying him all times, in peace and war, protecting him with his soul and all means. He (peace be upon him) was known by this up to the point that whoever wanted to be closer to the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) gets closer to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), or mediate the Imam (peace be upon him). And whoever wants his needs to be fulfilled, ask the intercession of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) after the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household).

Following his example, his son Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) is the gate to his brother Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him). It was because of the great faith and the noble morals of al-Abbas (peace be upon him) that Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) used to call him for every great matter.

Aba al-Fadl (peace be upon him) had dedicated his life to the service, protection and defense of his brother Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and it was known that he was calling his brother only by: My Lord or My Master!

It was not known that he had ever called him: My brother! Only once on the day of Ashura, when he fell from his horse to the ground succumbing to his wounds. It was only at that very sensitive moment, that Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) that allowed himself to call Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him): Oh brother!
