The Office of the Supreme Religious Authority announces that Saturday will be the first day of the month of Shawwal and of Eid al-Fitr.

The Office of the Supreme Religious Authority; His Eminence Sayed al-Sistani, in Najaf, announces that the investigation of the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal has been done after the sun set of this Thursday 29th of the holy month of Ramadhan 1439 AH corresponding to June 14, 2018. And despite the large number of people investigating it, the crescent moon was not seen with the naked eye in Iraq and its surrounding areas on this night, although it is expected to be seen the next night high and very clear, but it does not mean that it is a crescent moon of two nights.

And since the fatwa of His Eminence is that the first of the month in each region follows the possibility of seeing the crescent moon with the naked eye and it does not help to be able to see it in other areas. Friday will be the thirteenth of the holy month of Ramadhan and Saturday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
