The important axes of the Friday sermon

The Supreme Religious Authority has warned of a serious and frightening social epidemic in Iraqi society, especially in the youth category, which is the cultural danger. Young people should improve their behavior and harness their energies to serve their families and their country. They should not resort to trivialities, as they are the ammunition of the country and society, and we must give them the appropriate attention. Urging them to not be lazy.

These were the important points stated in the second sermon of the Friday prayer held in the holy shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on Friday the 19th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1439 AH corresponding to August 31, 2018, and led by Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, in which he stated:

We spoke on a previous Friday on a topic related to culture and education, which is one of the important subjects that require us to meditate on it, to see how we can reach the status of foresight.

It is clear that there is a level of decline in culture and civilization. As when the person is educated and civilized, he deals with things in a way that preserve the right of everyone. I agree that there are many reasons that made the education and culture level in our society decline, even though Iraq is a country of strong civilization.

Iraq is has a rich heritage but this does not mean that we only behave on the basis of our history. Indeed, it is a responsibility on everyone to respect and preserve this culture by having the minimum knowledge, education and culture that make the person be away from ignorance, stubbornness and hatred.

Note that in the society where the awareness is high, the charlatans and liars are weak, and whenever there is knowledge and science, ignorance is away.

We are in dire need of such awareness more than our need of food and drink. For example, when I meet a university graduate, I find that he has difficulties to even write his name, without exaggerations, it is difficult for him to write a text without mistakes. Such person with this level of awareness and culture, how can he prevent himself from wrong social, educational, economic or politic ideas? He will believe anything as he does not have the tools of immunity.

We feel really sad when we see our youth spend their time in trivialities and they are constantly lazy!!!

Your family needs your energies, your country needs you. If your body and brain are always in a state of laxity, how can you be beneficial people? One day, you will regret wasting the time in nonsense, and you will figure out that this kind of time has killed you. The good person is who he is keen to wake up early, full of activity and fill his time with interesting activities, before that the time passes and you start seeing your grey hair in the mirror, while you are not useful neither for your family nor for yourself, as you are filled with empty culture. We have to be careful, we should be keen to choose our correct culture source as we do for our food.

I am addressing my words to our youth. You, our children, whether in secondary schools or in universities, you are the hope of the country, you are its future. You must be careful and understand our advice.

The youth in our country are in danger of the culture of trivialities, which is a frightening situation. Everyone has to put hand in hand to work on the awareness of these youth so they can know their role and responsibilities. The youth have great abilities, so they have to benefit from them and use them in the correct way. You must know that only the lazy people who are sleeping after sunset. So do not be lazy and wake up so you can find the joy of life with spirituality and tranquillity, and you will become a new person.

We ask the Almighty Allah to make our children do the good. May Allah forgive the believers, men and women. And, the latest of our prayers is; praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and Prayers and Allah's Peace be upon Mohammad and his pure and immaculate Household.
