A joint delegation representing the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) visited one of the Islamic institutions in New York; the Muslim Foundation which houses the Masjid of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and a number of other centers, and is considered the center of the Muslim community in the southern part of the state, which is the second American state in term of the number of Muslim residents.
The visit came on the sidelines of the organization and participation of the two holy shrines in the conference of Restoring the leading role and promoting just, peaceful and inclusive societies, which will be held in cooperation with the Imam al-Khoe'i Foundation and the Scientific Alliance for Research and Heritage.
The delegation was received warmly by the foundation's officials and a number of the Muslims there, the Imam of the Masjid of Imam Ali (peace be upon him); Sayed Radwan Arsalan delivered a speech to welcome them followed by a word of the delegation member; Dr. Talal al-Kamali.
Then the official of the delegation of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Dr. Riyad al-Amidi, the official of the al-'Ameed international center for Research and Studies in it, delivered a word that he started by conveying peace, greetings and du'aa of the two Senior officials of the two holy shrines and all their employees. Then he extended his condolences to the attendees on the occasion of Ashura, and the martyrdom anniversary of Imam as-Sajjad (peace be upon him).
This was followed by spreading the flag of the dome of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and presenting it as a gift to the institution. The audience received it with reverence expressing their happiness with this gift and this visit which they described as a generous initiative that made them feel as if they were in Karbala of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them).
Then a discussion session was held with the delegation of expatriate Muslim intellectuals, which raised a number of questions and queries that focused on many topics related to the holy shrines, their management and the projects carried out on both intellectual and urban levels, as well as the opening of channels of communication between the two holy shrines and the institution for the establishment and revitalization of many projects.
