Speech of the representative of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in Europe; Sayed Ahmad al-Radhi al-Hussayni in the launching of the first week of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) in Germany.

The representative of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in Europe; Sayed Ahmad al-Radhi al-Hussayni has presented a word in the launching of the first intellectual week of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) in Germany, saying:

"Thank you for your participation and thanks to the brothers in the Faculty of Islamic Studies for the establishment of this conference, which reflects tolerance and communication and emphasizes the culture of dialogue between religions.

Adding: “We came from Iraq, the land of Mesopotamia, the country of the father of prophets; Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). We came from Najaf the city of the leader of human justice; Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (peace be upon him). We came from Karbala, from the vicinity of the Master of martyrs; al-Hussayn Ibn Ali (peace be upon both of them), the martyr of freedom, the word and the reform, who was slaughtered thirsty near the Euphrates river, and from the vicinity of his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). We are conveying for you the greetings and supplication of the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi.”

He continued: "For years, the number of conferences, seminars and lectures on tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of the other, interfaith dialogue are increasing, which is a healthy phenomenon in a region where religious crises have increased and extremist groups have taken the lead in the media, but we rarely listen to a realistic talk at such gatherings, as most of those who speak repeat phrases that have become compliments in public relations."

Pointing out that: "The reality that we live today requires us to take care of the study of religion in the context of the gains of mind, science, knowledge and accumulated human experience. The study of religions and their comparison works to reduce a lot of cases of hatred, intolerance and alienation of those who only accept the understanding of their heritage. And here I say: He who knows one religion, do not know any religion, and he who knows one language, do not know any language."

I call for the need to promote interfaith dialogue and to move from repeated rhetoric to the adoption of spiritual sources and common moral values as platforms for research in the study of religions and the dialogue between those who follow them.

In conclusion, he directed his thanks and gratitude to the President of the University, and invited her on behalf of his eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi to visit Iraq, to support science and universities, as the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has two large new universities. And all thanks to all those who supported and contributed to the establishment of this event, especially the brothers in the Interfaith Encounter Association and the students of this University of Göttingen.
