A photo gallery of the holy shrines in Iraq held in the United Nations building in New York.

On the sidelines of their participation in the international conference organized by the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) in the United Nations building in cooperation with the Imam Khoei Foundation and the Scientific Research and Heritage Alliance in New York, a photo exhibition entitled "The cradle of martyrdom" was organized. The displayed pictures were selected in Iraq by a specialized committee in accordance with the event.

Member of the Preparatory Committee for the Conference and the supervisor of the exhibition, Mr. Samer al-Safi explained to the Al-Kafeel Network: "Through our participation in the conference, we are trying to take every opportunity to deliver the message of the holy shrines in Iraq, with all possible means including the photography. And this photo gallery takes you on a journey to the holy shrines in Iraq, and describes the absolute devotion and reverence by millions of believers heading towards the shrines in an annual Ziyarat."

Indicating: "The exhibition also sheds light on the destruction of Iraq and the destruction of its cultural heritage by the extremist ISIL gangs, and the serious perseverance and courage of the Iraqis who fought ISIL and are now rebuilding their country."

Explaining: "The pictures in this exhibition have been divided into the following sections:

1 - Pictures of the two holy shrines in Karbala and the surrounding areas, showing their reconstruction through a comparative comparison between the past and the current life.

2 - Photos that highlight the movement of visitors coming from all over the country towards the holy shrines, and the services provided to them along the way.

3 - Photos of the humanitarian side of the Iraqi security forces as they fought ISIL gangs for the liberation of the occupied territories, as well as clarifying the security and assistance provided by the Iraqi forces to the displaced families.

4 - Photos of the damage of the holy shrine of Imams al-'Askariyayn (peace be upon both of them) in Samarra after the terrorist attack in 2006 and 2007, as well as photos of the reconstruction campaign.

It is worth mentioning that these pictures were selected in Iraq from the archive of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and then printed in New York. Each of picture was accompanied with a simplified explanation.
