Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) emerged in the Islamic history as the greatest leader thanks to his heroism and all his other morals that are the finest in all earth languages.
On the day of At-Taf, Aba Al-Fadl (peace be upon him) has shown enormous resilience and indescribable solid will, and he was with his equanimity and strong resolve alone, a whole army that has frightened the army of Ibn Ziyad, and he has defeated them psychologically like he defeated them in the fields of war, as the heroism of Aba Al-Fadl was and still the example in the battlefields throughout the times.
By his supreme sacrifice, Abbas became a universal soul that transcends time and space. Imam As-Sadeq (peace be upon him) testified about the great morals of Aba Al-Fadl saying in the text of the Ziyarat we recite when we want to perform the Ziyarat rituals of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him):
“Salam [peace] to you, O (Allah's) Righteous Slave who was obedient to Allah, to His Messenger, to the Commander of the Believers, and to Al-Hassan And Al-Hussayn "peace be upon both of them".”
The obedience of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to his brother Imam al-Hassan al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him), reveals his lofty position as he was obedient to the Imam out of full knowledge, complete awareness and entrenched belief that obeying his brother (the Imam) is a continuation of obeying his father the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), whose obedience is a divine order.
Another evidence of the great status of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) in the heart of Imam al-Hassan al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him), that Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) allowed his to help him in the funerary rituals of Imam al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him), even though this is done only by the infallible Imam to the dead infallible Imam.
It is clear the Imam al-Hassan al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him) has recommended his brother Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to allow Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to participate in preparing the corpse of the martyred Imam, by washing, perfuming and covering it. And he did so like the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) has asked his cousin al-Fadl son of al-Abbas son of Abd al-Mottaleb to participate in the funerary rituals of the Messenger of the Lord (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), but with the obligation of blindfolding him; for fear of blindness as if he looks as the holy corpse he would get blind, as only the infallible can do this.
While Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has participated with his brother Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) has participated in the funerary rituals of Imam al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him). And history did not mention that he was blindfolded during this act, which is a clear evidence on the greatness of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
