The al-Abbas’s (p) Combat Squad holds a commemoration ceremony to honor its martyrs

The Combat Squad of the al-Abbas (Peace be upon him) recalled the exploits and heroism of its martyrs who made the greatest sacrifice for defending the land of the homeland, through a commemorative ceremony held in the square between the two Holy Shrines on the fourth anniversary of their martyrdom in the liberation battles waged by the squad. And they are: The commander Wissam Sharif, the commander Malik Yahya, the martyr Aqeel Jaber and the martyr Qassim Khalaf.

The commemoration ceremony, which was held under the slogan: (To the martyrdom), was attended by the Secretary-General of the al-Abbas' s(p) holy shrine; Engineer Mohamad al-Ashigar and a broad presence of representatives of Karbala police leadership, local government, the operations of the Middle Euphrates and representatives of the Popular mobilization Command as well as a large gathering of the fighters from the Forces of the Fatwa of the sacred defense, martyrs' families and a number of visitors.

After reciting verses from the Holy Quran and standing to read Surah al-Fatihah in memory of the martyrs of Iraq, the Iraqi national anthem was played followed by the word of the Supervisor of the Squad; Mr. Maitham al-Zaidi, in which he said:

"Today, we gather to recall the sacrifices of the sons of Iraq, who rushed to answer to the homeland's call and fought the terrorist ISIL gangs who occupied large areas of Iraq, which were liberated thanks to their sacrifices..."

The ceremony included also a short documentary documenting the biography of each of the honored martyrs, as well as poetry participation about the love of Iraq, by the poet Najah al-'Ersan, the poet Mohamad al-A'ajibi and the poet Thamer al-'Aredhi.
