The al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organized in collaboration with the Basrah University the third annual cultural festival of Waleed [the born in] al-Ka'bah.

In cooperation with the University of Basra, the Department of University Relations at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine organized a cultural festival for the third year in a row, within the national project of the al-Kafeel youth, to commemorate the birth of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) under the name "Waleed [the born in] al-Ka'bah festival).

The opening ceremony of three-day festival is hosted in the central hall of the Faculty of Science at the university, in the presence of delegations representing the holy shrines in addition to personalities representing many bodies, as well as a large number of university teaching staff and students.

After the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and reading Surah Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq and listening to the national anthem and the anthem of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine "Tune of pride", there was a word of the presidency of the university delivered by Dr. Zaki Abdullah.

This was followed by a speech of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by Sayed Muhammad Abdullah al-Musawi from the Department of Religious Affairs, who extended his congratulations on the occasion of this auspicious birth anniversary.

Then a number of the university students presented some poems on this joyous occasion. The al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and the Basrah University exchanged gifts and appreciation shields, and both honored those who contributed to the organization of this festival. The attendees headed then to the opening of the exhibition of intellectual and cultural products, which included pavilions for the publications of the Department of the Cultural and Intellectual Affairs, the Department of the Islamic and Human Knowledge Affairs, and al-Kafeel Museum for Treasures and Manuscripts, as well as a pavilion to teach first-aid skills, in addition to a pavilion of the holy shrine of Imam al-Hadi and Imam al-'Askari (peace be upon both of them).

It is worth mentioning that the festival has stated its activities by holding a dialogue session presented by Sayed Muhamad al-Musawi, attended by a large group of students from the internal departments of the university. There was also a workshop to teach first-aid skills and a Quranic session.
