Al-Abbas's (p) Fighting Squad unveils the "al-Kafeel tank 1".

This ceremony to unveil the al-Kafeel tank 1 was held on Thursday, 9 Shawwal 1440H (corresponding to June 13, 2019). The idea, design and implementation of this tank was done by the research and development center of the al-Abbas (peace be upon him) fighting squad.

The ceremony was held in the al-'Alqami visitors' city, by the presence of the Secretary-General of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, his deputy, his assistant and members of the Board of Directors, in addition to the commander of the 9th Armored Division in the Iraqi army and a number of officers and commanders in the security forces and the popular mobilization, as well as officials of the local government in Karbala.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and reading Surat Al-Fatihah in honor of the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the speech of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine; the supervisor of the squad Sheikh Maitham Al-Zaidi.

Followed by the speech of the President of the Karbala Provincial Council, Mr. Nasif Jasem Al-Khattabi, in which he praised the great achievements of the holy shrine in various fields.

Followed by a documentary film about the stages of accomplishing this project, followed by unveiling to the audience the (al-Kafeel tank / 1).

It is worth mentioning that (al-Kafeel tank/ 1) has the following features:

  1. Wide range of vision with multiple panoramic optical instruments (day, night, thermal) with detection range of up to 14 km at night and 360 degree detection capability.

2 - Modern shields designed in an innovative manner consisting of alloy steel with carbon composite.

3 - Russian cannon type (D-1T) with a range of (4 km to 17 km), with three heavy machine guns controlled from inside.

4 - The first local fire management system through a computer that deals with various inputs, to give a high situational awareness to the crew and give high accuracy in hitting targets including high-speed moving.

5 - Equipped with an internal air conditioning and an internal storage tank and transfer the gear nest behind the tower for more comfort and safety of the crew.

As well as other smart systems that are not militarily permitted to be disclosed.
