The Department of Trees and Adornment in the Department of the area between the two holy shrines seek to develop the gardens between the two Holy Shrines, especially palm trees, through the planting of rare species and care of the plant by fertilizing and cleaning them and harvesting their fruit.
Palm trees form one of the most important green landscapes that give a spectacular view of the region, which led the Department to develop its own watering, fertilization and sustainability system through the control of agricultural pests with the best types of pesticides, as well as replacing some rare varieties.
Director of the Department of Trees and Adornment in the Department between the two Holy Shrines Engineer Hatem Abdul Karim Habib talked about the program prepared for palm fertilization, saying: "Palms are fertilized with three types of fertilizers, most importantly the decomposed organic fertilizer, which is well prepared with balanced fertilizer elements that are needed by the palm, then we use the DAP high-phosphorus fertilizer, which is placed around the palm program following a special program on four times."
He explained: "Before each fertilization process with DAP fertilizer we fertilize by the humic acid, produced by the al-Joud Company of modern agriculture technology of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, in order to prepare the soil to absorb the DAP fertilizer correctly. " He pointed out that: "The fertilizer is provided by the al-Joud Company free of charge as a contribution to create a green environment."
The head of the division stated: "We have a special program to control agricultural pests of all kinds (insects, fungi and spiders) through the use of environmentally friendly and safe pesticides, such as the materxin pesticide that is extracted from a Chinese medicinal herb. We have also an insecticide to eliminate the insects in the Palm trees in the summer, and another in winter to combat the disease of palm using fungicides, and a third one the month of May to eliminate the spiders.
It is worth mentioning that the division of the area between the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), harvests fruits from the palm trees and distributes them to visitors in the region.
