For the first time in Iraq, the technique of diagnosing viral hepatitis is available at the al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital.

The Laboratory Department at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announced providing the "Abbott Real Time PCR" machine approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is responsible for the accreditation of laboratory equipment.
The head of the Laboratory Department at the Hospital; Dr. Zaynab al-Ibrahimi, explained: "This technology is the first of its kind in Iraq, and is considered a qualitative leap in the laboratory service provided by the hospital, because this device is the most capable of detecting the smallest viruses in the blood."
She explained that the cases diagnosed by the device include:
Analysis of viral hepatitis (Viral Load B)
Analysis of viral hepatitis (Viral Load C)
Analysis of viral hepatitis (Genotyping C)
Tuberculosis analysis (tuberculosis)
HIV analysis
Analysis of High Risk Human Papilloma Virus
CMV analysis
EBV analysis

She added: "Comparative studies of the device with the rest of the devices concluded that the (real time abbott) is the most accurate device in the detection of hepatitis viruses, as well as follow-up and monitoring the treatment of patients with these viruses and monitor the development of the disease and chronic cases of viral infections."
