A valuable participation of the Library of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in IFLA World Conference in Greece.

On 24 August 2019, librarians and all those involved in information turned to the Greek capital Athens, where the 85th IFLA World Conference on Libraries and Information is held. Specialists in the fields of libraries and information meet to develop efforts to promote libraries in the world, and look ahead to keep pace with the rapid technological developments.

Therefore, the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, through its library and house of manuscripts, sought to participate in this major international event, to bring the Iraqi libraries back to the forefront in international forums, and it had an active presence and participation through two important activities, namely:

First: Delivering a speech during a session of the Arab delegations participating in the conference, where they reviewed its most prominent achievements, (For more details, please click here).

Second: Delivering the research presented by the Library and the House of Manuscripts of the Holy Shrine entitled: "After the Disaster - The Iraqi Scientific Product Conservation Project: A Case Study", the first Iraqi research to be accepted at the 85th IFLA World Conference on Information and Libraries held by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, which was approved by the Committee assigned to accept research of this category and that was chaired by the President of the Department of Conservation and Maintenance of the Congress Library, and will be presented by Professor Hussein Adel and Professor Ammar Hussein Jawad.

The conference will be held from August 24 to 30 at the Megaron AThens International Conference Center.
