Abdullah Ibnu ‘Umayr al-Kalbi, his mother and wife, great companions of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him)

Om Wahab Ibn Habbab Al-Kalbi, or Om Wahab Ibn Abdullah Ibn Habbab Al-Kalbi, the woman who has believed and sacrificed. She and her son were Christians, and did not have known about Islam what would make them convert, but the fate played its role, it was destined for them to stop in their journey in the same place as Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and once they have seen him, they knew he was th greatest man of his time.

The light of guidance entered their hearts after they have talked to Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and after knowing that he stood up for the truth and against falsehood, and they have decided to join him. And on the day of Ashura, the mother had a great role as she was encouraging her son to fight to offer him as a martyr for the sake of the son of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) few days after her conversion. This was not sufficient for her and after the martyrdom of her son she took a tent pole and started fighting for the sake of Al-Hussayn and his family (peace be upon them).

Once the Imam (peace be upon him) has seen her, he went to bring her back to the tent, teaching her that the Jihad is obligatory only on men and promised her to be in paradise. Thus, she has given a great example for th believing, patient and faithful women from those who were present in Karbala, and who were not satisfied unless the apple of her eyes, her beloved son is killed for the sake of his Imam (peace be upon him).

As for his wife, she was the example of the combatant woman, as after the martyrdom of her husband she has took a tent pole to fight and Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) brought her back and prayed for her. She has done this after that she has stopped her husband in the beginning of th fight from going to the battlefield - as they were newly married -. And it is said that when Wahab was fighting with valor and chivalry was coming back to his mother and telling her: O mother, did you give me your blessings or not? she replied: I will give you my blessings only when you get killed in front of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

His wife then told him: By the right of God on you, do not make me widow. His mother then told him: O my son, do not listen to her words, and go back and fight for the sake of the son of th daughter of your Prophet, to attain the intercession of his grandfather the Day of Resurrection.

And he went back and fought until his hands were cut, his wife then took a tent pole and went towards him saying: May my father and mother be your redemption, fight for the sake of the pious ones, the family of the Messenger of Allah (Prayers of Allah be upon him and upon his holy Household). The Imam went to bring her back with the women, and he told him: I will not go back unless I die with you. Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) then told her: "May your family be giving the good, go back to the women, the mercy of Allah be upon you."

The author of Al-Bihar has wrote that Wahab has killed twenty-four fighters on foot and twelve horsemen from the camp of Umar ibn Sa'd, and then he was taken captive to Ibn Sa'd who told him: how strong you are! Then order to cut his neck and his head was thrown to the camp of Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him). It was then when his mother took his head, kissed him and threw him to the camp of Ibn Sa'd and killed a man with it, and took the tent pole and killed two men.
