The two General Secretariats of the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) pay tribute to the martyrs of the Twayreej ritual stampede.

On Saturday afternoon 14th Muharram 1441 AH corresponding to 14 September 2019, The square between the Two Holy Shrines hosted a condolence council set up by the General Secretariats of the Holy Shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), to pay tribute to those who were martyrs of the stampede incident that happened during the ritual of Rakdhat Twayreej on the day of Ashura, among the visitors of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and who were chanting "Labbayka ya hussayn" on the day of the martyrdom anniversary of the Master of martyrs (peace be upon him).

The condolence council, which was attended by the Senior Official of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him); His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, its Secretary General, a number of its officials, as well as a high-level representation from the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, led by its Secretary General Engineer Mohammed Al-Ashigar and members of its board of directors and officials, in addition to the servants of the two holy shrines, representatives of the holy shrines and sanctuaries, and a large group of mourners who came from inside and outside the holy city of Karbala as well as the martyrs' families.

The Council, which lasted for three hours, included the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran in honor of the souls of the happy martyrs, after which a Hussayni council was held and which reward was gifted to their souls.

It is to note that the Supreme Religious Authority extended its sincere condolences, during last Friday sermon, to the families of the martyrs of "Rakdhat Twayreej" stampede in the afternoon of Ashura, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded. Pointing out that the afternoon of Ashura this year was a date for the departure of a sincere and loyal group on their march to the martyrdom site of the Master of martyrs (peace be upon them), as their wish was sincere in their willingness of supporting Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and dozens of them who have answered the call of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him): "Is there anyone to support us?" Their souls had sincerely said "Labbayka ya Hussayn", so they were chosen to meet their Lord longing to be along with the Master of martyrs and his faithful companions.
