An exceptional effort and a variety of services are offered by the Department of the Area between the Two Holy Shrines of the Holy Shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) to the visitors of the holy city of Karbala.

One of its services is to keep the square and its surroundings clean, whether the areas surrounding the shrines or the streets leading to them.

According to the head of the department, Mr. Nafi Al-Moussawi: "Despite the heavy traffic situation, the cleaning campaigns are continuous, day and night, and the department has used a number of vehicles and deployed staff working on three shifts to ensure the cleanliness of these places so waste is not accumulated, by transporting it to sanitary landfills. "

"As part of the plan to maintain hygiene, waste bags are distributed to the owners of the processions adjacent to the square between the two holy shrines, as well as the deployment of great number of large waste containers, specifically in the spots of high crowding."

Al-Moussawi stressed: "After the end of the Ziyarat, we will have a major campaign to conclude what we have done during the period of the Ziyarat so the work in the area return its normal routine."
