Launch of the sixth edition of the Holy Defense Fatwa Festival

The al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine launched this Thursday morning in the Hall of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him), the activities of the sixth edition of the Holy Defense fatwa festival under the slogan: (religious authority is the fortress of the Islamic Ummah).

The opening ceremony of the festival, which will last for two days, was attended by the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; His Eminence Sayed. Ahmad al-Safi, its secretary-general, his deputy, a number of members of its board of directors, heads of departments and officials of its divisions, in addition to representatives of the local government in the province of Karbala, religious figures, academics and security leaders.

The events began with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran recited by the reciter of the two holy shrines; Sayed Hassanein al-Hilu, then reading Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of the righteous martyrs of Iraq, followed by listening to the Iraqi national anthem and the hymn of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine (the pride’s melody).

This was followed by a speech of His Eminence, the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, followed by a poem of vertical poetry by the poet Dr. Hazem Rashk Tamimi.

After that, a special documentary film was shown about His eminence the supreme religious authority; Sayed al-Sistani and Sheikh Fathallah al-Isfahani, after which the documentary Encyclopedia of the Speicher massacre was unveiled. For more details please click here.

The activities of the festival continued by the research opening of the festival conference, which was delivered by His Excellency Sheikh Hussein Aal Yassin.

The rest of the events of the festival resumed successively in the afternoon, and will include a research session followed by an academic workshop in the evening, followed by a Quranic evening held at the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which concludes the activities of the first day of the festival.
